While mining is prevalent in this area of Canada, it has caused many problems that have caused people to work towards conservation of the area. One of these problems is that construction and development of land in the ecozone has lead to the death of wildlife whose natural habitat is the Boreal Cordillera. Another problem is the strain put on the water supply in the area by industrialization and urbanization, which in turn has also affected wildlife and nature in the area. The water quality has also been called into question for fear that it is harming the wildlife due to pollution from industry. In addition, certain natural areas of grassland and wetland in the ecozone have been destroyed by fires due to drought, overgrazed due to cattle or diminished by urbanization being brought into the area.
