How is the Middle Class Task Force planning to achieve its goal of reducing home energy use by 40 percent by 2020?

The government’s Middle Class Task Force will work to reduce home energy use in three ways:

    1. Developing a standardized measurement of home energy performance and a label to show that a home is efficient, much like ENERGY STAR does for appliances.

    2. Promote financing options that make make it easier for homeowners to retrofit their homes.

    3. Establish nationally recognized worker training standards so that those investing in retrofits know that the job will be done well.

The government hopes that a nationwide retrofit market will create new jobs while helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
