Less than 350,00 armadillos are killed on roads in the U.S. every year.  While armadillos may not be as common as squirrel or possum getting run over, this is due to their smaller population.  Armadillos are still a commonly squashed animal because their first instinct to a threat (a.k.a. a car) is to jump in the air. The car does not stop, and therefore kills the armadillo.
