How is marine life altered by pollution?

Marine life is greatly endangered by various forms of pollution. Plastic debris, especially six-pack rings, can become entangled among seafaring creatures such as fish and penguins, cutting off their circulation and/or air supply. Broken fishing line can cut fast-moving larger underwater animals like sharks and whales. Oil spills destroy fur and feathers, thus hindering an animal’s natural insulation. Toxic waste has also caused disease and destruction of habitat by marine mammals like polar bears, manatees, and dolphins.
