Back in April of this year, the Marine Corp made plans to install a a high voltage solar panel array atop two of their buildings in Camp Pendleton near San Diego, CA. The plan is adding to some already installed panel systems that power many of the barracks, and the new system will be sitting atop their mess halls. The Marine Corps hopes to save hundreds of thousands of dollars on power in the first year. As far as implementing solar power on the battlefield, solar power is probably used in limited quantities for smaller things, but nothing substantial as of yet.
