How many years and what conditions would it take for a desert to become a forest?

It depends on if the area previously was a forest and is capable of becoming forest again. If the area has always been a desert, there isn’t much you can do to make it become a forest. Otherwise, if the soil is in good condition, it could take 5 to 10 years to reach a good density and height. It also depends on the climate, how much sun and rain the place gets.
