How many years after you cap a landfill can you build on it?

As a standard, landfills are to be observed and monitored for thirty years after they are closed up. This means we can’t really begin to think mucha bout construction efforts on that land for some time. The landfill operator is responsible for running tests during that time include testing the groundwater, inspecting the landfill cap, fixing erosion, and preventing plants from growing, which could tear the cap. When you think about the steps involved in maintaining a landfill, even after its finished, you can see why waste excess is a heavy environmental issue to work with.
