How many trees would I need to plant to offset an average carbon footprint?

    An average person in the U.S. emits about 17 tons of CO2 per year. A healthy tree can store about 13 pounds of carbon or 2.6 tons per acre. It would take abou 7 acres of tree cover to offset the emissions of one person.
