How many trees would have to be planted to offset the average carbon footprint of a human?

    Below is a link to a tree calculator for carbon emissions. A tree planted in a humid environment can absorb about 1 ton of carbon over its lifetime. This calculator assumes that some trees will die prematurely and get out competed so to ere on the conservative side says to plant 5 trees for every 1 ton of carbon you wish to offset times the carbon tons emitted by 6 billion or so people.
