How many of the world’s organisms live in tropical rainforests?

It is estimated that over half of the world’s 10 million species of plants, animals, and insects live in rainforests. With only 7% of the world covered in rainforests, that is a lot of biodiversity. Especially when you consider that 25% of pharmaceutical drugs are derived from rainforest compounds, yet only 1% of the plants, etc. have been tested for drug use by scientists.
