Between 50-60 volcanoes erupt every year. Approximately half of these are effusive, meaning lava is flowing out continuously, while the other half are explosive.
Many volcanoes are deep underwater, where we can’t see their eruptions. However, we can use monitoring equipment to check for waves and seismic activity to know when they erupt.
