How many tons of carbon can be cut if the aviation can cut their emissions by 50%?

This is a simple math problem. Total aviation emissions are roughly .6 Gigatons of Carbon. If this were cut in half, .3 Gigatons of carbon would be cut. However, at this point it’s not feasible for a carbon cut of that magnitude, because airline travel is very robust (and increasing) and planes aren’t getting more fuel efficient very fast at all.
