How many tons of carbon are released because of coal power?

This data is a bit dated but I think is s pretty demonstrative. The U.S. department of energy found that coal produces an average of 2.117 pounds of carbon per kilowatt hour of energy produced. In 1998 they estimate that 1,787,910 thousand metric tons of carbon was emitted by coal fired power plants in the U.S. I’ve linked the report below if you wish to have a look yourself.
