How many tires get recycled in America?

  1. 0 Votes

Approximately 290 million tires are recycled, reused or retread in the United States. This accounts for about 80 percent of the tires that would be otherwise thrown away. This number is an improvement from 20 years ago when only about 10 percent of tires were recycled, resulting in large tire piles. These piles sometimes create large infamous tire fires that burn for days, polluting local air and water supplies.
