The estimated spill volume of the Exxon Valdez spill is 25-32 million US gallons.

Estimated spill volume of the Deepwater Horizon (BP) spill is 172-180 million gallons.

Dividing the BP spill by the Exxon spill, we have the Deepwater disaster at 5.5 to 7 times larger than the Exxon Valdez spill of 1989.
