This is impossible to answer as stated because there are so many variables. How large does the environmental damage have to be. What exactly is “working extra hard?” There are countless things we have done to damage the environment. The most visible damages with press dedicated to covering the cleanup are the massive oil spills that have occurred. For example, the Exxon oil spill of 1989 caused enormous environmental damage and the cleanup was extremely costly and time consuming.
