In order to answer this question, I researched it as though we were speaking of chimpanzees. According to a website I found, Chimps can spend up to four hours a day foraging for fruit. They also spend approximately two hours a day eating on either leaves, nuts, or insects. From what I read, I am assuming that Chimps spend much of their awake hours working to find food and then eating it. Their specific eating habits vary according to region.
