It’s hard to tell, but we can get some perspective by looking at sales. In 2008 there were 4,864,000 sales of small, midsize, and large SUVs. If (and that’s a big ‘if’, due to gas prices and the popularity of hybrids) the sales stayed the same until the present date, there would be a little over 10,000,000 new SUVs on the road since 2008. This does not take into consideration older models, of which there are millions more.
Take a look out the window the next time you’re on the highway, or take a look at any full parking lot. You’ll see that America still has a love affair, however guilty, with the SUV.
