The data on the first link is a little old, but according to their figures the record US strawberry crop was 1.424 billion pounds in 1993. The second link is more recent, and reflects increased demand in the past decade. According to the fact sheet by the California Strawberry Commission, there are “about 50 million pounds [of strawberries harvested] per week.” That translates to 2.6 billion pounds of berries a year, almost double the 1993 figure.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, U.S. strawberry production for 2009 was a little over 2.8 billion pounds of strawberries.
