In 2010 there was only one species that was declared extinct, which is the Alaotra Grebe also known as the Delacour’s little Grebe who lived in lake alaotra surrounding the lakes in Madagascar. This bird was last seen in 1985 and only one known photograph is to be known to exist today. This bird was about 10 inches long and it has the ability to fly long distances because of it’s small wings.
