How many species of sea turtles are there?

At least six. Green, loggerhead, hawaksbill, leatherback, Olive ridley and Kemp’s ridley. It seems to be generally accepted that flatback turtles (found only in Australian waters) are a separate species, which would make seven. There is some debate surrounding black turtles. Some people consider them to be a subspecies of the green turtle, others consider them to be a separate species.
