How many species have been hunted to extinction?

It’s hard to say exactly the cause of what makes a species extinct, so it’s hard to say. But there are a few species we can say for sure: the Tasmanian tiger, huia, quagga, great auk, passenger pigeon, Steller’s sea cow, spectacled cormorant, Yunnan box turtle, Bali tiger. This problem seems most recently to be affecting fish, where high catch yields are threatening natural populations. However, loss of habitat affects far more species.
