How many species of fish can live in both salt and fresh water?

When organisms can effectively osmoregulate their own bodies’ water content across a range of salinities, they are known as euryhaline.  These fish can exist in either saltwater or freshwater, unlike most fish species which are limited to one or the other.  Probably the most popular euryhaline fish is salmon – some others include the bull shark, green chromide, herring, lamprey, molly, puffer fish, shad, striped bass, sturgeon, tilapia, trout, barramundi and mangrove jack.
