Most spoons, if metallic, can be made from copper, silver, or stainless steel. The actual amount used in a single spoon however is perhaps a few ounces. The process of making it can be in the hundreds or thousands though. This can also vary on the size of the spoon, whether its a basic eating spoon or a large serving one. Using more precious metals can be more expensive and time consuming when producing spoons and other silverware.
