How many people would be out of jobs if we shut down the coal fired power plants in America?

Would we still continue to mine coal?

    According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, there were 86,859 coal miners in America in 2008. So if coal plants were shut down is is likely that many of these people would lose their jobs. This number is broken down by state on the website below.
