The January 2001 ridership report by the Chicago Transit Authority showed that 1,584,637 people rode Chicago public transport on an average weekday (Monday through Friday), while 912,402 rode on Saturdays and 621,340 on Sundays. These figures include bus and L train ridership. Chicago has the second-most public transport riders in the United States, second only to New York City.
