    Anti-depressants are actually the most commonly prescribed drug in The United States right now. In 2005, the reported number of people on anti-depressants was 27 million.

    27 million people are taking anti-depressants although the number of people seeing a psychiatrist have decreased. 80% of the people taking anti-depressants are receiving their medications from doctors other than psychiatrists. Unfortunately, people in this country who are in need of psychiatric care are unable to receive it due to the costs and lack od adequate health coverage.
