Beekeeping is a rare hobby and there are only a few thousand beekeepers in each state. Beekeeping requires a place, first and foremost, for storage. It begins in the Fall season and you would need a backyard, garage, shed, or porch. You will need a hive stand, which can just be a bench that will prop your storage cases up off the ground. Protective gear for yourself will also be necessary against the bees. You will need a smoker (see link below) to keep the bees distracted while you work. Other tools necessary will be boxes with wooden frames with beeswax sheets where the bees will live. Lastly, you need to choose the type of bees you want to keep!
