According to this article, http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats, 12 percent of the world’s population doesn’t live in third world countries, which mean 88 percent of the world’s population live in third world countries. 88 percent of 7 billion is about 6.2 billion. I suspect this number is a bit high. The definition of third world vs. developing countries is not very clear most of the time. Nonetheless, I believe its safe to say that there are more people living in third world countries than those living in first world countries.
