According to a report in 2005, only 141 have accomplished rowing across the Atlantic.  Frank Samuelson and George Harbo were the first to achieve the feat in 1896.  History was recently achieved in March, 2010, when a 22 year old Ohio athlete solo rowed across the Atlantic.  Katie Spotz become the youngest solo rower leaving Dakar, Senegal and reaching Guyana’s coast 2,317 miles later.  Spotz rowed to raise awareness and money for the Blue Planet Run Foundation, a foundation dedicated to clean drinking water.
