Floods kill more than people every year than lightning, wind storms, tornadoes, or hurricanes. There are on average 136 people killed in flash floods every year and 94 in regular floods. So with an average of 230 people killed yearly by floods, over the last decade probably more than 2300 people have died as a direct result of flooding.
