According to “Diplomas Count 2010,” the most recent analysis of graduation rate data, US graduation rates have been declining. In 2006, 69.2% of high school students graduated in four years. In 2007, that number fell to 68.8%. This means that 11,000 fewer students graduated in 2007, than in 2006. The highest the US graduation rate has ever been is 77%, in 1969. The year 2007 was the second consecutive year that graduation rates declined.
