About 2.5 to 2.8 million. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2000-01, 2,569,200 students graduated from high schools in the United States, and in 2005-06 the number was 2,815,544. It’s surprisingly difficult to find statistics about raw number of graduates; most of the stats reported on the web have to do with dropout versus graduation rates, and many are measured differently (freshman who started? when did they drop out? do you count GEDs?) As with all statistics, they are a general guide, not necessarily gospel truth.
