According to the US Department of Labor, about 15 million people are unemployed. Of course, this data doesn’t count people “not in the labor force” (i.e. homemakers, retired people) because they are not out of work in the traditional sense. However, it is also hard to figure out true exact numbers, since portions of the population are surveyed, and these portions generally only include “households”, not the homeless.
