To answer your question Juilliard receives an average of 1800-2500 applicants yearly and excepts an average of 6-9% of them. For example in 2007 there were 2138 applicants and only 162 were accepted into the program.

To piggyback off of nikonfotobug’s response, Juilliard is a very selective school. Less than 10% of applicants are accepted each year. Applicants have to do everything they can to make themselves competitive and that includes doing research on the school and the audition process.
