Since 2005, 7 orca whales have disappeared from the Puget Sound. An alarming number that includes a 98 year old matriarch of one of the pods, 2 females of reproductive age, a six year old male, and three calves. Researchers are not positive what is causing the decline, but believe a reduced number of Chinook salmon, pollution, and whale watching boats all are factors in the disappearances.
