How many nuclear bombs did we set off in America for testing?

Since July 16, 1945 when the Manhattan Project produced the world’s first atomic bomb, the U.S. has tested 1,054 devices and atmospheric tests- meaning not all those tests involved an actual explosion, or “bomb.” That’s over half of the total tests conducted worldwide. However, since July 1962, all nuclear tests have been done underground.
