A study back in 2004 showed that the total number of newspapers in circulation was around 164,500,000 in 2003. That number includes weekly (50,212,925), morning and evening editions of daily prints (55,185,351), and the Sunday paper (58,494,695). Since the popularity of online news sources has grown, there has been a decline in printed materials, which in a way is good because it saves trees. If all of our nation’s newspapers were to be recycled, 250,000,000 trees would be saved per year.
