    The United States consumes approximately 25.32% of all the energy resources in the world and yet has a population that is only 4.64% of world population. The US consumes 25% of the world’s oil which works out to about 146 billion gallons of gasoline every year. The US also consumes about 1,700 cubic meters of water per person.
