There are 43 muscles in our face, controlled by the seventh cranial nerve. Also known as the facial nerve, it splits up into five different main branches in the face: temporal, zygomatic, buccal, mandibular and cervical. Each branch is responsible for the movement and expressions of the corresponding five different areas.
