Jupiter has 16 satellites at least 6 miles long in diameter and many other smaller ones. Of the 16, the 4 Galilean satellites are referred to as the four large moons of Jupiter. One source sights 63 confirmed satellites, or moons orbiting Jupiter.
Apparently the number is changing from week to week. The current number of total moons is 49 official ones, and about 14 contenders.
