How many months a year does the ice grow in the arctic?

Arctic ice growth starts from the seasonal minimum in September and goes until the seasonal maximum in February. In total it grows for about 5-6 months out of the year, and melts for about 6-7 months of the year. It is theorized that we will see an ice-free Arctic summer within the next 25 years.
