How many meds get put down our sinks every year?

An estimated 250 million pounds of pharmaceuticals and packaging are dumped down sinks and toilets each year, according to the Associated Press. Surprisingly this is not just from consumers, but hospitals and long-term care facilities. Fish, frogs and humans are impacted by this, although at this time no state or federal laws prohibit the practice.
