How many mangroves have been destroyed in Bangladesh?

Bangladesh has lost roughly 45% of its mangroves due to destruction.  This has greatly impared the regions biodiversity and livelihood of the surrounding population of millions who depend on the mangroves for food, economics, etc. Much of this can be attributed to industrial shrimp farming, which was heavily promoted by the World Bank in the 1990s.
