How many Landfills are in Northern California?

There are currently 13 landfills in California alone. The world’s largest landfill is located in L.A. and is 700 acres long. This landfill will close in 2013, and a new one will open in the California desert. However, one could argue that the largest landfill is off the coast of California, floating in the Pacific Ocean. This is the Great Pacific Trash Gyre, and it is about the size of Africa. For a complete listing of the landfills in California, check out the first citation. It lists all the landfills in the US by state.
