How many plants is it going to take to offset a carbon footprint?

There are two fundamental problems with answering this question. One: carbon footprints are not of a fixed size. “Carbon footprint” is simply the net change in carbon left behind by an individual, an organization, a machine — it’s a term for the impact something has on the carbon levels of the planet. Also, every type of plant processes carbon at different rates. Both parameters of this question are inherently extremely variable, making it impossible to answer.
