The most well known insect to lay it eggs in other animals is the Ichneumon wasp, which drills through the unlucky creature with its stinger, and lays its eggs inside, to be later hatched and eat the unhappy critter from the inside out. Braconid wasps, chalcid wasps and some flies also lay their eggs in other animals, allowing their larvae immediate access to food. Velvet ants have a similar habit. Many of the insects with this habit belong to the Animal Order Hymenoptera, which includes bees, wasps, ants and sawflies.
