There are at least four hydroelectric dams on the Colorado river: the Hoover Dam (which is the largest and most famous), the Glen Canyon Dam, Morelos Diversion Dam, and the Davis Dam. Each of these work to control flooding and bring electrictiy to the area. Two of the four are used to create lakes/reservoirs of water.
