The Bamboo Lemur, once believed to be completely extinct until the 1980’s, is noww one of the most endangered of its species.  The known population recently rose to around 140 after a surprise discovery of a group of 40 lemurs.  Their habitats have been demolished due to ramppant logging.

Current estimates indicate only around 1000 individuals left, making them one of the world’s rarest species. Current conservation efforts seek to find more populations in Madagascar in order to protect them.
