As of 2007 (the most recent report found), there are 239 giant pandas in zoos in China and 27 giant pandas that live in zoos outside China. There seems to be a slow rise of the population in China, which is good considering the status of endangered animal for the giant panda. Pandas in captivity live between 20-30 years. The Giant Panda is seen of a symbol of China, which considers killing pandas a crime.
